Fascinating as these dancers are, I'm afraid I must leave now to save the universe. You two be good while I'm gone.

I've been hearing this a lot on the radio lately. Good song, good themes, inspirational. ![]() Been hearing this a lot lately. The best secrets are the most subtle. Like the childhood game, "Where's Waldo." He's often hiding in plain sight. That Tay Tay, always showing off. What if, like, music videos were messages for a select audience. What if the most obvious answers are hidden in plain sight. What if everything we believed about someone were all lies, but all truths too (for those who see). As we search for others with "talent" or "skill", recruitment often proves difficult. A test of character often plays a role. How do we behave when we believe no one is watching? How do we treat and speak of our fellow humans when they have nothing we want from them--with kindness I hope. As the answers lay bare on the cold floor, I'm truly entertained. Well-played. You've been enjoyable, a ride, a hurricane in your own right. Best mind-f I've had the honor to play. Here's another piece to the puzzle you're trying to put together (Tay's music video). It is through our adversaries that we learn ourselves. There's a lot we believe we know about the world--but even the 1% aren't always prepared for what's possible. Oh hey, Kingsman: The Golden Circle is in theaters. I bet that would be interesting for the Tay Tay fans :0)

The tale begins in London.
I'm a HUGE movie fan. One story, many interpretations and perceptions. I'm open to simple movie discussions. Nothing too weird like the book 1984. That's outside my breadbox/wheelhouse. Probably.

Just came in to say hello to you. Gotta run though. Stay fresh.

Hows about Doctor Strange? I just watched it on netflix. Good stuff, some good lessons in there.

DS was a good one too. More metaphysical and inspirational in that sense. I thought it was interesting the movie decided on a woman to play the Ancient One when the comics represented the character with a man.
Kingsman isn't quite as inspiring when seeing it from the perspective of a literary plot. Fortunately, some of the redeeming features include a mild dolcett angle, watersports reference, really, just a lot of very small tidbits that are kinda like Easter eggs for those who know what they're seeing. Less entertaining for those outside the circle. Both movies were equally entertaining for different reasons. The directors, such visionaries.

'twas a very androgynous kind of woman. Seemed almost like a man sometimes. (link to another discussion)
I did not find the DS movie all that interesting/good. Too many cliches. No proper character insight - disconnected from inner development of the character. They show you he evolved but dont really show it to you. And they do not really show you anyone else properly either. They do not try much to get the audience to connect with the characters. The focus of the movie is the action. Ofc it still had its moments .I notice this anti-character focus is becoming a thing.... they are lazy.... .

Yeah, the ancient one was androgynous. I assume being a character as old as her/him would tire of upholding gender norms.
Character development is interesting. You perceive it as flat while I saw it as complex and adaptive. I certainly see how the characters were difficult to connect with for select audiences. The most inspiring aspect, from my perspective, was the idea that all schools of "magic" can be united. The result is a metaphysical protection force that is observed by those who are part of it. The visual aspects added to the mudras was for people who struggle to conceptualize how energetic properties function. Like tai chi, its boring for people who dont understand the internal impact of directing and manipulating energy. Hollywood has to add a lot to sell the story. Movies are a gateway to link the normal population to what lies beyond mass awareness. Anyway. Every pair of eyes have their own way of seeing. We either behold the mystery of life or ... not. We either appreciate or not. We either learn something or decide there is nothing to learn. We choose how we experience reality. Im sorry you chose to see flat characters who were too different to be able to understand. I get that way about characters from Pride and Prejudice.

It was good enough
. The world had stuff to offer, just that the characters were not enough in the focus of the story. We have different preferences in terms of how important that is for us. For me it is like the world is somewhat hollow, even if it is beautifully crafted ![]() No need to be sorry. Thanks for sharing what was magical for you

Thanks
You've incited some further thought on my end, I appreciate the prompt. I haven't written in ages.Pride and Prejudice: I know this is a historical piece of writing that many have thoroughly enjoyed and while that's amazing and wonderful that people have found something that is entertaining to them, I have found it very bland. This is likely due to my personal values and overall disinterest in such mundane matters that are thoroughly covered in the novel. To some, these mundane matters are the majority of what they know and their awareness has settled in that genre and they are still exploring these matters. The other aspect is that I prefer a different awareness than the one which has written Pride and Prejudice. It's certainly a beautiful story, complex, and full of lessons. It comes down to a difference of opinion and the topics covered in P&P are dry to me. Anything Marvel or DC is incredible to me. It seems so childish and basic to be entertained by superheroes who are saving the world, and I don't really believe in people with superpowers. I believe in everyday heroes who are secretly making a difference and imparting an invisible handprint across humanity. The costumes and powers are Hollywood's method of making a message more interesting. I'm a fan of the "show" and not the "tell". The artistic creativity involved in "showing" a message takes more effort on the part of the viewer and there is more respect in showing than telling. So many want to "tell" with an opinion. I prefer a complex show and to stumble upon a truth by my own intellect. I find this very meaningful, self-discovery. Those who must be "told" what something is do not deserve to know. Naturally, I've grown a fondness for complex matters as the matters of truth are anything but simple. I can see why JJ found interesting messages in Doctor Strange and why you may have overlooked such things. As similar as you both are--there are some distinguishing differences That's the beauty of movies (or books, messages, etc)--one movie can become a million depending on the eyes viewing it. When we talk of "stalking" knowing thy audience means we can send messages in plain sight to those who know to read between the lines. Movies are a different form of stalking and includes a much wider audience. How big is your platform for being heard? How important is your message? How deep down into the rabbit hole have we traveled? How much further can we dig until we strike gold? Pushing the envelope until we break through the ceiling and enter an entire realm of "holy ****" is an amazing feeling. To understand that everything we have learned and been taught is lies, but also kernels of truth. When we reach such understanding a new world opens, much like a metaverse Rosy mentioned. So I ask, why are so many stuck on mundane matters like those discussed in P&P when there are issues in the world related to topics from Doctor Who to resolve. I find it useful to ask where time is better spent: on mundane or metaphysical matters. A balance seems most ideal. Then again, I recognize living in two worlds isn't easy for many. Balancing two lives (or more, for some) takes a magnitude of strength and compassion to maintain. Kudos to those people who do the impossible.

So I watched the first Kingsman movie... alright. Entertaining for the most part. A bit WTF about the plan needing all 10 satellites in a precise circle to do anything. Same with the sudden acquisition of abilities by the new recruits. You survived the parachute test and next thing you know you can move like the people in the Matrix?? I did enjoy it though, although I'm not sure I learned much from it. Perhaps when I build my own secret society to rule the planet then the lessons from the movie will hit home. xD
Pride and Prejudice is probably a good movie. If I were the sort of person to give it a chance I'd probably enjoy it. Unfortunately I only become concerned with minor mundane matters after growing attached to the characters by watching them in epic battles. Or something like that. I'm a big fan of the show Bonanza, which has a number of mundane episodes I've enjoyed. But if it weren't for all the gunfights, I'd have never kept watching the show. As to the "ancient one" in the Doctor Strange movie, I never read the comic, and I thought the character portrayal was appropriate. She seemed convincing in the role although they didn't go too much into her character. I agree with WG about the overall character development. Like Strange's relationship with the nurse feels kinda tacked on to the story. They explored Strange's character a bit, but really only one aspect of it. Mostly we just get to watch Strange struggle to learn magic and try to use it as it suddenly becomes urgent for him to do so.

A bunch of f*cking dancing addicts at the mercy of a crazed cannabalistic woman--and it requiring the union of two secret services to unravel the identity of a double agent.... like wtf. Weird. Some details are frivolous compared to the message. I mean, I can say "I love you" by replicating a romantic story or by running you over with my car. Both relay the same message, but with varying means. Movies are like that--ignore the red herrings while pulling out the Easter eggs. Pride and Prejudice is probably a good movie.
