I was lead to believe that CC died a normal death. That's not my preference either. It is only more recently that i have come across folks who say he did burn from within. I know that burning from within is some kind of energetic alignment but I don't really know what this means. For me I am left wondering about my sources. Am i to beleive that CC dies of liver cancer and was cremated? If I do then perhaps there is an option to leave the body behind and continue on?? Or was CC's death rubbish and if so why was it reported to be the case? I am in the dark.
When I look at the facts, there aren't many. I know the effects of being a warrior are more than hard to beleive, I live them, so I have no problem trusting other warriors who say they actually dream with Don Juan who would probably himself know what happened to CC. But I have next to zero experience dreaming and am wondering weather just to take your word for it. Who are you again?I dreamed twice with Castaneda . The first  dream happened at the time I  feel asleep  reading the opening chapters of  Lujan Matus "The Art of Stalking Paralell Perception" in 2006. I virtually knew nothing of Castaneda only that a friend had suggested his books a few months before this dream. I did not even know what he looked like.
Anyway the dream turns out I am in a bus terminal, I walk through looking for a man with florecent green eyes. I am thinking it is Lujan Matus but also I don't know what Lujan looks like either at this point.lol..The man had shifting florecent green eyes and he looked Mexican. I take "Lujan Matus " and turn him horizontal so I can "hear"his heart beat...to know if he is the real nagual. After this I  started looking for pictures of Castaneda on the internet after Lujan posted his picture on PP. Lol, it was CC and not Lujan in the bus depot..
When I started reading Castaneda I was awestruck to find out that CC met DJ in a bus depot. Stranger than this, two years after this dream I watched the BBC special documentary film on Carlos Castaneda. I nearly **** when I saw the "scene"where DJ and CC met in the bus depot. The bus depot appeared identical to the one in my dream of CC two years previous.  This is when I knew there was something about Castaneda -being more on the trickster side. Maybe he is stuck inside the Inorganic Being realm as one of the newest avatars.

Hi Scout 1,
I would say he is having fun like how he portrays himself in his earlier books like in Tales of Power. Castaneda showed up like a trickster in the second dream. In this dream, he was inside the back seat of a taxi with me, going down a city street. He was dressed in a trench coat and hat. I told him I needed to get in shape for the end of the world. He handed me a percription that read, sex: 3x's a day- nothing more or less- and got out at the next corner.
I would say happy, helpful and friendly much like a Genero.

Just read that article and agree with view of Castaneda.  Intuitively I've figured this out about the Carlos man behind the books.
Castaneda did have an alluring quality about him that is rarely seen in most. He has a visible presence even in that side profile picture of him they have of him on the Internet. Was CC really wanting to erase his personal history? If we go with the facts that his bio gives his father was a perverted womanizer.  Did Carlos leave Peru or Brazil wanting to find a better life in the United States through an education. He began with the arts and sculpturing. He must of had a charismatic personality as he rubbed shoulders with influential peoples on campus during the hippie culture. There is too much speculation about CC even as I have been speculating here.  I hoped Hollywood will write a great screenplay about his lifestory and adventures with Don Juan.  Starring Jack Black & Johnny Depp.

Jack Black...huh, I just watched a Simpson's episode with him (he played a comic book dealer)...I really like him.

Well, you can tell by reading that that Gloria Galvin really does not believe in sorcery or the Eagle's gift. She left him becasue..in her words:

She realized that being so closely bound to Carlos had kept her "cut off from the juice of life." She wanted to experience a "real" marriage with children of her own. "I wanted to construct my own world - not just borrow his."
Ok, I believe people can have children and its not an energetic drain, so not commenting on that part. What I question is her use of "real" marriage. She means of the tonal world, of what is widely accepted and endorsed...she in truth wanted all that. I don't want that. I realize she sees Carlos from such a perspective and not one of power beyond death. She takes a very mainstream view, and even if I am wrong, I will never take the mainstream view that all the morons out there have taken. Its clear to see they are chickens in chicken coops. But so easily they will cast doubt on those who are taking a more seemly impossible route. I'd rather take my chances on the impossible then accept the known.

Hi NL,
I think Gavin broke up their "verbal"marriage with Castaneda when she began to see a "manipulative" side to CC in 1992. She said even CC knew what he was doing.
" Till death do us part" is placed in tonal marriage. Love and immortality beyond death is the nagual way. Anyway, she did carried on being married in the tonal with a real husband and children in 1980 but it sounds like her heart still goes on for Castaneda.  I hope she writes that book.

This is how the article began:

For many years, Gloria Garvin of Joseph was the sorcerer's apprentice and soul mate. Until, that is, the sorcerer succumbed to the temptations brought on by fame and fortune and Garvin finally decided to break free and start a life of her own.So I saw right away they stated their intent in the article. This article presents a perspective, Gloria's. And I'm saying she craved a tonal life more than the nagual way. Otherwise she could have left Carlos but stayed in nagualism. So we could at least take that into consideration, that maybe she couldn't cut it as a sorcerer. I think she maybe wrote this to cover up her possible regrets thus deluding herself into the comfy notion she made the right choice taking the tonal path. And if she can get others to agree with her, she'll feel even better about her decision.

Maybe she found her path with heart, that in the tonal which makes her happy.  This is what Don Juan tells us to do.  Even he had a family, one I'm sure he loved very much but it didn't prevent him from reaching the 3rd attention.

I've met her in person, and even went to her house once. She is into Chinese spirituality, I didn't see any relationship between what she was doing and what Castaneda wrote about. She told me that the recapitulation that she did under his guidance was very helpful for her. As far as I can remember from my conversations with her, he paid all of her expenses while she attended UCLA. I'm pretty sure she still conducts seminars on Chinese themed spirituality to this day.

I had a face to face conversation with Kylie when she worked at Toltec Artists, and she told me that Carlos was able to live in the Tonal and Nagual completely, because he was a Nagual, but regular sorcerers didn't have the luxury. She also said that he was making a "sacrifice" for all of them, but she wouldn't explain the details of it. Maybe his going to the Death Defier world had something to do with it.

I like to think of Carlos Castaneda as patron saint of dreamers.
I can see a new horizon
underneath the blazin'sky
I'll be where the eagle's flying
higher and higher

Does the tonal make you happy? Because that's what I think it boils down to...we the readers of the article, what is it that we seek, a tonal reality or a nagual reality? If you ask me, that article is a very tonal in its approach and perspective.

Its actually a very simple statement. So simple that some seem to have made it 'more' than it is. Its just saying, become the nagual. Lose your human form while living (die a symbolic death).

And by 'regular sorcerer' we mean one who doesn't use inorganic energy?  I'm a bit confused by that because if sorcerers are hybrids of avg man and IB, how do we not use IB energy?
I am having a hard time envisioning a sorcerer who lives in the tonal, only.
