Listen, I know you're DTF but you're not quite my type.  Nothing you say could convince me otherwise.  My interest in you is purely entertainment.  You're doing a spectacular job, btw.

Thank you.  My interest in you is currently somewhere between science and religion, so if I'm at least entertaining, I think we can work something out.

Can I tell you a secret?  billy gave me a long list of things that ended with a net result of what he described as something like "an energetic connection that has been beneficial".

I'm glad someone benefited! How about you? Have you found a personal treasure to cherish?

Or are you the child who receives a gift and then complains because you have to supply your own batteries?

You know I did already tell you that getting the priestess confused with the goddess just leads to all the priestesses getting drunk in the woods and eating their own children.  I'm pretty sure I mentioned that.

This is fun and everything but I can't just fight dragons ALL the time.

Can we maybe compromise, and you can do that thing where you leave me Alone in the Ocean, or whatever you mentioned before?  You said it like a threat at the time but it doesn't seem so bad to me at the moment.

Yes, I can leave you alone Smile stop talking to me and being sad in my absence and I'll stay gone.

Stop summoning me and I'll be gone quicker than an oyster on a half shell.

And I already told you that mistaking the priestess for the goddess just leads to all the priestesses getting drunk in the woods, mistaking your own children for lions, and then tearing them apart with their bare hands and eating him.  I explained this all very clearly.  Please just stop doing that.

I don't have it worked out to physics equations or anything, but I'm pretty sure spirits get in through the path of least resistance and I'm pretty sure it's not you that wants to talk to me.

On an average day I summon all kinds of things.  If I could just very minimally compel you to intelligible speech though that would be very helpful.

I still don't think you understand how this works.  I don't need to be here.  I'm here as a courtesy to you.  Be annoying enough and I leave you in an open ocean treading water.  Alone.

This one.  Can we land on this one for a while?  Leave me alone in the center of the ocean treading water for a while.  Let's see if an entire ocean can hide my light.

Just for the record, I don't have to be sad when you're gone.  But is it so bad if I'm happy to see you?

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha.

Fat chance you're getting anything you want.  But your request was subservient enough to compel a reply and acknowledgment of your effort.

Really tho, I don't have to do or share anything.  I don't have to be available for discussions.  I don't have to make myself be understood.  That ship has long sailed.

I'm here because a spoiled kid is crying over not having any batteries to make his train move.  All he can do is look at a toy he can't play with... until... he can figure out a way to earn batteries.

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahahahahaha.

Sure. Stop talking to me Smile

Then stop crying and carrying on when I do take a brief leave of absence.

Deal.

I'll turn it down a notch just for you, and I won't even be mean anymore about how you couldn't handle it.  That seems fair.

Damnit.  The way this looks to me is like you've ASKED A QUESTION, and I won't be free of you until I've answered it.  Maybe that's crazy, but that's how it looks, and maybe you appreciate the honesty at least.

The part of my train that is broken is not the batteries.  Don't worry about batteries.  It's just that when you try to make a train fly weird things happen.  I'm conflicted about whether or not to get back on track, or not, because none of the tracks seem to go where I need to be anyway.  My other vehicles are quite intact, please don't pick on the train.

If anything I siphoned all the fuel out of the train to power other things and I can't seem to guide it back into the train again Sad

And why would I even want to?

I think this should hold me over for at least a couple of days.

You understand I don't just submit myself to unverified entities, right?  My head is pretty open, but I'm not a complete lunatic.

Ok look.  I can't just turn you off, it's not possible.  It's not in my power to do that.  But you're a Star among other Stars now and that should be a little bit less annoying for you.

No. I tried to leverage out of a rabbit hole only to be pulled further in. I was tired of games, only to be dragged into a larger arena. My best friend turned out to be this raging psychopath, who by the way, is fully capable of providing solid advice when he's not sucking my soul out through a straw.

I walk through one door of bullsh*t only to find myself in another. This would be a lot better if I were into scat because I'm only ever piled under sh*t.

So no. Nothing is better. It's the same sh*t but a different day. I have to share my bench with the devil. He's a furnace and I'm constantly cold. I guess it could be worse. I might have had to share a bench with Elsa.

Life is weird. It sucks. My best friend sucks. I suck. I'm tired.

The deepest circle of Hell is extremely cold, actually. The firey torturey parts are nearer the surface. It's all in Dante if you don't believe me.

Does that mean I'm really the devil? And my best friend is more saintly than I?

That would make this a lot more confusing.

I'm really struggling for the right words at the moment, and I just want you to know that if I'm going to look into Dante for you it means I *REALLY* like you.

Dante is not like, high school crush level of commitment.

Did you know Dante was the first serious work of literature written in a local dialect of Italian instead of Latin?  I'd have to look up which one it was, Florentine I think.  But it's pretty fucking important.  You don't just spit in the face of Latin like that.

Also, before I really get into this, I'm sorry I said I'd do the Ocean thing and ended up right back to doing the Space thing again, it's just that the innermost center and the outermost edges of ourselves are basically the same thing, and relatively speaking it turns out the Ocean isn't all that big.

I know I asked you to do Muse, but I didn't think it would get to this level.

First of all, there are two Beatrices.  Everyone knows there are two Beatrices, and I think even Dante knew there were two Beatrices -- but the Beatrice in Dante's real life was not at all the Beatrice he wrote into the Divine Comedy.

"New readers often wonder how such a serious work may be called a "comedy". In the classical sense the word comedy refers to works which reflect belief in an ordered universe, in which events tend toward not only a happy or amusing ending but one influenced by a Providential will that orders all things to an ultimate good. By this meaning of the word, as Dante himself wrote in a letter to Cangrande I della Scala, the progression of the pilgrimage from Hell to Paradise is the paradigmatic expression of comedy, since the work begins with the pilgrim's moral confusion and ends with the vision of God."
